St. Louis is an amazing city. It has so many different attractions to offer that’s deciding what to do can be difficult. Arch Interim Housing has put together a list of St. Louis best top free attractions.
1. St. Louis Zoo – Located in Forest Park, St. Louis is proud of its nationally recognized zoo. Over 90 acres are host to 5,000 animals, including pandas, bears, lions, tigers, snakes and gorillas.
2. Forest Park – This park has so many different attractions (many of these are not free) including The Muny an outdoor theater, skating rinks, lakes and a 7.5 miles of jogging/biking/walking paths. Forest Park is one of the United States largest parks.
3. Science Center – Give your child or inner child the chance to explore 700 different exhibits. The Science Center is easy to find and offers free parking through Forest Park.
4. Grant’s Farm – Grant’s Farm, owned by Anheuser-Bush, is exactly what it sounds like: a farm! When you arrive, a tour guide drives you through vast open spaces where you might see buffalo, deer and more until you arrive at the heart of the attraction. It’s here you find goats you can pet, animals shows throughout the day and best of all a free tasting of beer!
5. Anheuser-Bush Brewery Tour – Another free attraction of Anheuser-Bush, this tour takes you step by step through the brewing process. At the end, enjoy a free sample of beer or soda.
6. Art Museum – Located in Forest Park, the Art Museum is filled with 33,000 pieces of art. Inspire yourself with these collections and interpretations made by the museum of what it all really means.
7. Missouri History Museum – Just because this is a history museum, don’t assume it’s full of boring exhibits that you probably won’t be interested in. Explore many unique exhibits, including The 1968 Exhibit. (Explore what made hippies decide that wearing tie dye was cool?
8. Cahokia Mounds – Get another taste of history at Cahokia Mounds. These are the remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico.
9. Citygarden – Located in the heart of St. Louis, the city garden is filled with sculptures and cool fountains. Check it out at night or in the day time to see just how differently it looks.
10. Laumeier Sculpture Park and Museum – This park/museum is a place where people can ‘explore the relationship’ between art and our natural environment. Although it’s not located downtown is in Kirkwood, which is only about 20 minutes away from St. Louis.
