Visit your local hardware store for sturdy boxes for your fragile items. If you’re not interested in purchasing new boxes, some department & grocery stores will give patrons access to their used, discarded boxes. Ask a store manager if this is a possibility before your big day. Locate all permanent markers, tape guns, and save extra newspaper well ahead of your packing date. The more organized your packing is, the easier it will be to unpack when you’ve arrived.
Moving With Kids & Pets
Relocating is a huge endeavor for anyone- especially families with children and pets. If you will be moving while caring for your children, make sure you’ve set aside a separate bag of snacks, clothes, and easy to access toys and medicine. Of course, what you’ll need for your children varies according to their age, interests, and ability to care for themselves- so set aside some time to consider what will be helpful during moving day. Contact your pediatrician to inquire about the transferring of your children’s medical records. If your furry friends will require special needs, pack accordingly for them, too. Relocating often means heading to a different state, and some lengthy car rides or flights. Book an appointment with their vet before you begin the moving process, so you can access their medical records and ensure they’re safe for travel. If it’s hot, you may need to consider special accommodations for transporting your pets.
